Maintenance Supply Headquarters contacted us after the city of Maple Grove requested that they add Flue Keepers to comply with a fire code. The project was intensely time sensitive because their occupancy was dependent on the last minute requests by the city. Our job was to install Flue Keepers and Hilti 5” concrete anchors to the Interlake Mecalux post protectors. The previous installer used a different length which required us to install the re-anchoring after the racking system was already in place, providing a unique challenge.
We opened a new location for Lowes Pro Supply in the earlier part of 2021 in Maple Grove, Minnesota. We used a company to install all the rack we had purchased from our vendor. I wasn’t exactly happy with the speed and progress of the rack installation. We had a rack and building inspection after the rack install and the Fire Chief wanted us to make some changes. We had to install some flu spacers on the uprights to allow for additional water flow and we had some decking supports and braces we needed to add in the areas where we had items that exceeded the weight certification of the wire decking. We contacted the company that had originally installed the rack and they couldn’t give us an answer as to when they could get back out to our location and make the required changes to the rack. We contacted Oumar Cherif at Renegade Racking and he came out immediately, to give us a quote to make the required changes. We received an ETA on the flu spacers and decking supports we ordered, and I received an email and confirmation the day before the racking was delivered. I called Oumar the day after we received the rack. It was early afternoon. The crew was onsite later that day and worked into the night and the next day to complete the job. I was really amazed at the speed and efficiency of the changes they had to make to complete our jobsite. I called the Fire Chief to have another rack inspection and we passed with flying colors.
